Large, Luxury, Eco-Friendly Lexus
2nd June 2011
Here at Bramley, we’re not renowned for being eco-warriors so much as purveyors of some of the finest luxury vehicles in the world. Until now, that is. Enter the showroom, exhibit A. We give you the Lexus RX 450 h 3.5 SEL. On the outside, a girthy but rather stately-looking luxury SUV/ 4x4 family vehicle presented in dazzling Pearl White. On the inside, all the features you would expect to find in a Bramley car: sumptuous black leather hide, polished wood details, reams of techno kit including a full Multi-Media Navigation System, Premium Sound System including DAB Radio, Parking Sensors, Rear View Camera… in fact you name it, it's all here. However, the real brow-raiser on this particular model is hidden beneath the modern styling and luxury cabin and that’s the 3.5-litre V6 Petrol Hybrid Engine, capable of operating in either petrol or electric mode as well as a combination of both. Still powerful enough to propel you from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds and deliver 295bhp, but also offers you 45mpg through its clever 4-wheel drive transmission. It drives exactly like a conventional automatic, and the only clue the outside world has that you've succumbed to the 'Save the Planet' ethos is the total silence as you cruise away in electric motor mode until you reach 25mph - or over. Definitely worth a closer look; Lexus appear to have ticked all the boxes, and more, with this eco-fuel efficient luxury 4x4. This model has logged just 2,700 miles, and is offered for £43,995.
