The Lamborghini Egoista - the world's most radical concept car?

At its 50th Anniversary event late last week in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, Lamborghini unveiled its latest concept car, the Lamborghini Egoista. The name, when translated in English, means “selfish.” Perhaps nobody put it better than Volkswagen group head of design Walter De Silva, who stated that the Egoista is a car that embodies “Hedonism taken to the extreme.” Or we can refer to Lamborghini’s press release for the Egoista, which read as follows: “The Egoista is pure emotion, Never-Never Land, which no one can ever possess, and which will always remain a dream, for everyone.”
The Egoista is simply one of the most extreme and radical concept cars to have ever existed. It is powered by a 5.2-liter, V10 with 600 hp, but while that’s rather tame compared to other recently released supercars, the single-seater is designed for pure driving pleasure.
The cockpit, made entirely of carbon fiber and aluminum, was inspired by an Apache helicopter, and according to De Silva, it represents a survival cell; isolating the driver and protecting them from external elements. The controversial exterior was designed to represent a raging bull preparing to charge, with its horns lowered. Flaps were integrated into the bodywork profile that act automatically depending on the driving conditions. Lighting on the Egoista is more fitting on an aircraft than a vehicle, with LED clearance lights that determine its position in three dimensions.
“It’s as if Ferruccio Lamborghini were saying: I’m going to put the engine in the back, I don’t want a passenger,” said De Silva on the Egoista. “I want it for myself, and I want it as I imagine it to be. It is a fanatical vehicle, Egoista fits it well.”
