Luxury Unveilings at Detroit
18th January 2012
There was excitement at the Auto Show in Detroit last week when Mercedes-Benz unveiled their new SL.
Focusing on high tech and lightweight, the new folding hard-top roadster saves 140 kilos over the previous model; plus there will be a whole new range of direct-injection engines issuing more power than ever before. The US spec versions launched at Detroit may not be the same as UK spec, but featured gadgets such as the MAGIC SKY CONTROL panoramic glass roof which switches from transparent to virtually opaque at the flick of a switch, Magic Vision Control where windscreen washer fluid flows neatly onto the windscreen via the blade (avoiding the soaking you sometimes get with the roof down!) and the Front Bass system which uses free space in the aluminium footwell structures as resonance spaces for the bass speakers. Very cool!
Back in Blighty it's been a busy January here at Bramley with some fourteen cars sold already this month! We have two Mercedes-Benz SL 350s currently in stock; a 2007 model in Tellurite Silver with 34,000 miles, 272 bhp featuring the 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission and a Panoramic Glass roof all for just £24,395; plus this 2010 Limited Night Edition in Designo Magno Night Black, with just 1400 miles, 3.5 litre 7 speed automatic with 315 bhp for £49,995.
