We are delighted to be able to offer for sale this stunning 1961 Aston Martin DB4 Series II. It was originally purchased by Mrs Mary Crook of Salcombe Devon on the 2nd of February 1961, registered MC 1 and supplied by OKE Bros Ltd of Kingsbridge, Devon. The car then passed then to Mr Charles N Hill of Sidmouth on the 13th of April 1965, registered as 266 TOD. He replaced this number with his own registration plate CNH 20. On the 25th of November 1966 the DB4 was purchased by Mr Colin Bond, complete with registration number 406 TOD. It was registered to his company – Thompson Bros Ltd of Bridgewater in Somerset. The mileage at this time was 28,700 miles. He drove the car for a little over six years, until ill health made him take the car off the road and place it in storage. In 1981 the car was MOT’d , taxed, serviced and ready for the road again, the mileage was at this time was 57,213 miles, she was only to travel 55 miles that year before being placed back into storage. In 1982 the car passed to Mr Colin Bond’s son and it remained in storage until the 21st of February 1998, when it was sold to its last keeper, who had by chance known the car from new. The last keeper was responsible for the stunning restoration which won him 1st place in the Elite Class at the 2004 Aston Martin Owners Club Concours, held at Woburn Abbey. The car has been subject a detailed restoration, which has involved the best marquee specialists, including Spray Tec Restorations Ltd (for paintwork), Bodylines Specialist Panel Beaters (for chassis and bodywork) and Motorman Engineering. The engine was rebuilt to 4.2 litre unleaded Specification, complete with Vantage cams. The original SU Carburettors were retained so that the engine looks completely standard. Other works carried out include Full flow oil cooler, electric radiator fan, which are hidden from view. The suspension has been uprated with new springs, a thicker anti roll bar and Koni shock absorbers at the front. A high ratio back axle (same as Zagato) with Powerlock Limited Slip Differential has also been fitted. The front brakes have been uprated and Borrani Wire Wheels, complete with spinners (an original option) have also been fitted. This is without any doubt the best DB4 to be offered to the market for a while and being a Series II the best looking, complete with mesh grill, high bonnet scoop, low roof line and short back end.
