Track Day Rubies!
21/06/2011
If you’re looking for a car to enjoy some track days this summer, or just fancy owning a thoroughbred red-blooded sports car, well, here at Bramley we have plenty to choose from! To focus your attention we've picked out three of the best all-round road-to-track performers currently in stock and these should whet your appetite:
Porsche 997 GT3
The only true racecar made user friendly for the road, the Porsche 997 GT3 is a true driving enthusiast's car and once driven you'll be an addict. Beloved of racers like Walter Röhrl and Mark Webber, the brute force of the naturally-aspirated 3.8-litre flat-6, developing over 400bhp, plus race-refined handling, makes it a joy to drive. Plus the experience is enhanced by the sonorous pitch of the GT3 on full song, coupled with the evocative racecar transmission hum on tick-over. No question, this is the perfect machine for a track day addict and it will see you right the way through the track day season, without the need to trailer it to and from circuits, and it’s still a joy to drive on the road. We just hope you have an understanding partner! This model has a mere 3,800 miles on the clock, is finished in vibrant Guards red and will cost £89,995.

Nissan GT-R
Here's another track day beast, finished in gorgeous Prism red: we give you the Nissan GT-R, ballistically fast on the track, with the advantage of a battery of on-board state-of-the-art driver aids, which means anyone can drive it quickly, with no cockpit training required. Slightly cheaper than the Porsche 997 GT3 at £57,000, you may find the Nissan more user-friendly if you need this track day purchase to be a practical road car as well, since it has more luggage space, while on longer runs it will be a more comfortable ride - but it’s not a Porsche!
Delivering a healthy 478bhp, this 2011 model has clocked just 4,800 miles.

Ferrari California
Now you’re talking! We could hardly feature a trio of red-blooded sportscars and leave out an Italian stallion Ferrari and the California is our car of choice. We also suspect it will be a future classic; the traditional grille, bonnet air intake and side air vents echo features of the 1957 Ferrari California 250. This Grand Tourer’s stunning Corsa Red paintwork enhances the beautiful fluid Pininfarina styling perfectly and, though not as nimble round the track as the Porsche, it surely packs a punch with 460bhp from its 4.3-litre V8. With only 115 miles on the clock, this example has barely been round the block, so we suggest a little running-in is in order before hitting the circuits. This particular California trip will set you back £154,995.
